Description

A cornflower-blue field carries a large-scale curvilinear design: sweeping ivory-white sickle forms arc across the ground, enclosing amber-gold sunburst rosettes, brick-red full-bloom flowers, and dark navy leaf clusters. A warm taupe-brown border runs on all four sides with its own dense red-leaf and floral repeat, separated from the field by a narrow near-black inner guard.

A note on the dye

Madder root, soaked five days, simmered three.

The red you see in the field is not one red. It is seven dye lots, each pulled at a slightly different hour from the same copper vat,the variation lives only in the wool, never in the recipe.

Asked & answered

Questions you'd want to ask.

Plain answers about the wool, the loom, and what the rug does over years of use.

Coil · the asked & answered
How does a multi-color traditional design in wool maintain its motif resolution and color separation over years of use?

Hand-knotted wool holds dye at the fiber level, keeping color boundaries between the blue ground, brick-red, and amber-gold motifs stable under regular use. Tight knotting preserves the fine detail resolution. Rotating the rug annually and vacuuming on low suction without a beater bar maintains the surface without disturbing the pile structure.

What room scale and furniture arrangement suits this large-scale curvilinear design?

The large sweeping arc structure reads best in rooms where the full field remains visible. At 9x12 or 10x14, a sofa and two chairs with front legs on the rug keeps the central field open. Rooms with plain walls in off-white, plaster, or warm stone allow the blue ground and multi-color field to carry the room's full visual weight without competing with surface pattern elsewhere.

Does the all-wool matte construction require any specific first-year care?

Some fiber release is normal in the first three to six months of use. Vacuum on low suction without a beater bar two to three times weekly during this period. Avoid steam cleaning or wet washing at home. Professional cleaning once in the first year, and annually thereafter, keeps the pile even and the color separation clear across the full surface.
