No. 02 — The Second Life

Fifty years on the floor, three weeks on the bench.

Drag the handle. A 1971 wool-on-cotton runner, returned to the studio with three generations of footfall — washed, re-piled and re-fringed by the same family that wove it.

Seven hands on the bench.

Pick the service that fits the rug in front of you. Pickup is included anywhere in the country; return shipment is insured for the rug's full appraised value, woven into a sealed wrap.

Rug washing.

Gentle but thorough. Inspection, dust extraction, pre-treatment, an immersive hand-wash, controlled drying on the rack, and a final refinement of the pile. All pH-neutral, fibre-safe solutions — nothing that asks more of the rug than the wool can give back.

Rug repair.

From small frays to severe damage. Each intervention is carried out by artisans who understand how a rug breathes. Fringes restored, edges reinforced, threads re-woven, tones balanced — all by hand, using time-honoured techniques.

Vintage wash.

For older rugs that have lost their light. A slow, low-temperature wash with a touch of dye-tone correction — bringing the patina back without erasing what the years have rightfully earned. The rug should still look its age.

Rug alteration.

When the rug outgrows its room — or the room outgrows the rug. We resize, reshape, and re-edge by hand, preserving the field of the original pattern as if untouched. Re-fringing in matching wool comes included.

Full restoration.

The long return. A full diagnostic, deep wash, structural repair, dye correction and final finishing — for rugs that have lived a hard life and deserve another. Documented at every stage; you receive a letter from the studio when each phase is completed.

SVC / 07 — Moth 10–14 days

Moth treatment.

A controlled cold-storage cycle followed by a permethrin-free, food-grade fibre treatment. Eggs, larvae, adults — the full cycle interrupted, the wool left untouched in colour or feel. Aftercare cedar sachets included.
