Description

Large angular forms in powder blue and warm taupe-brown cut across each other at oblique angles, their edges eroded into white and broken into stippled dissolution. The forms carry no clean outline. Dark espresso streaks run vertically through the taupe passages, and the blue bodies hold a matte, chalky quality distinct from the warmer tones beside them.

Madder root, soaked five days, simmered three.

The red you see in the field is not one red. It is seven dye lots, each pulled at a slightly different hour from the same copper vat,the variation lives only in the wool, never in the recipe.

Do the large-scale angular forms hold their color boundaries clearly over years of use?

Yes. In hand-knotted construction, color boundaries are built knot by knot into the structure of the pile, not printed or applied. The transitions between the blue and brown forms remain defined with regular care and annual rotation to distribute wear evenly.

How does this rug's scale work in a mid-sized drawing room with mixed seating?

The 9x12 works well with a sofa, two accent chairs, and a coffee table, with all front legs sitting on the rug. The large angular forms read most clearly at this size and above. The 8x10 suits tighter rooms but crops the design; the 10x14 lets the full composition breathe.

Is there visible shedding with the wool content, and how long does it last?

Light shedding from the wool is normal during the first several weeks of use and decreases steadily with regular vacuuming. Use low suction only and avoid a beater bar attachment. By three to four months of normal use, shedding typically stops entirely.
