Description

Burnt sienna grounds a Khamseh-style tribal medallion composition where steel grey organizes the field into a central hexagonal form, corner brackets, and a continuous small-scale geometric all-over. Ivory and warm sand fill the secondary motifs while the grey structural lines carry real visual weight against the warm ground. The close-up pile shows a medium-high fiber with soft, slightly raised character that gives the surface a fuller hand than the matte finish implies.

A note on the dye

Madder root, soaked five days, simmered three.

The red you see in the field is not one red. It is seven dye lots, each pulled at a slightly different hour from the same copper vat,the variation lives only in the wool, never in the recipe.

Bring the room into the rug - never the other way around.

A rug is sized to read once, in full, as you walk past it. The longer sizes tell a different story across a whole room.

Asked & answered

Questions you'd want to ask.

Plain answers about the wool, the loom, and what the rug does over years of use.

Gault · the asked & answered
How does a burnt sienna wool rug read on polished concrete or grey stone flooring?

The contrast between a warm sienna ground and cool grey stone creates strong visual separation at the rug's edge, anchoring the seating zone clearly. The steel grey in the rug's own pattern connects to the floor tone and pulls the two surfaces into a deliberate relationship rather than a simple contrast.

Does a tribal geometric composition suit a contemporary room, or does it read as traditional only?

Tribal geometry reads across room styles. The abstracted geometric forms and the restraint of the two-color palette — sienna and grey — connect naturally to contemporary rooms with raw or industrial materials. The structure is classical without being decorative, which gives it flexibility across different interior approaches.

How does a medium-pile wool rug handle an active household with children or pets?

Medium-pile hand-knotted wool resists the compression and abrasion of regular use because each knot is individually tied to the foundation. Wool's natural lanolin content provides some resistance to soiling. Vacuuming weekly on low suction without a beater bar and rotating the rug every 12 months maintains even wear. Professional cleaning once a year addresses embedded debris and restores pile resilience.
