Description

Broad gestural marks in slate-blue grey and near-black move across an ivory-cream ground without fixed direction. Warm amber-ochre traces follow the curves of the larger marks, and a single faded rose passage sits in the lower left field. The hi-low construction raises the pale ivory ground in silk while the wool holds the denser grey and black zones in a lower, heavier register.

The dark grey and black zones are dense. Do they hold their colour depth over regular use?

Wool at the lower pile plane holds pigment well and resists fading under normal indoor use. The darker zones, being wool-knotted, maintain their depth better than lighter areas over time. Rotating the rug annually and keeping it out of direct sustained sunlight preserves colour across the full surface.

What size and room type suits the scale of this design best?
