Description

A pale celadon-grey ground carries a field of looping, thread-fine lines in cool silver-white, densest at the lower field and dissolving into a quieter, almost bare upper register. The hi-low construction gives the line-work a raised presence against the flatter silk ground beneath it. No border. No symmetry.

A note on the dye

Madder root, soaked five days, simmered three.

The red you see in the field is not one red. It is seven dye lots, each pulled at a slightly different hour from the same copper vat,the variation lives only in the wool, never in the recipe.

On scale

Bring the room into the rug - never the other way around.

A rug is sized to read once, in full, as you walk past it. The longer sizes tell a different story across a whole room.

Asked & answered

Questions you'd want to ask.

Plain answers about the wool, the loom, and what the rug does over years of use.

Scrawl · the asked & answered
How does the wool and silk construction hold up in a high-traffic living room?

Wool carries the structural load in this construction, making the rug resilient under regular foot traffic. Silk sits primarily in the ground, where it sees less direct wear. The combination performs well in living rooms when rotated periodically and vacuumed on low suction.

What furniture scale works best with this rug in larger room sizes?

The 9x12 and 10x14 sizes suit large sectional or L-shaped sofa arrangements where all front legs sit on the rug. The open, non-bordered field scales well under substantial furniture without the design feeling cropped or interrupted.

Does this rug shed, and how should it be maintained in the first year?

Wool-silk hand-knotted rugs may release minor fibers in the first few months of use. Vacuum on low suction without a beater bar. Avoid over-vacuuming in the first three months. Blot spills immediately and schedule professional cleaning in the first year if used in a dining setting.
