Description

A large curved arc in dusty rose-pink and warm straw-yellow sweeps across the upper field, enclosing a broad open zone of pale powder-blue and silver-white at the centre-right. Crimson-red traces run within the pink arc, darker and narrower than the surrounding rose. The lower field holds sand-yellow and pale grey-white in quiet horizontal bands beneath the curving forms above.

A note on the dye

Madder root, soaked five days, simmered three.

The red you see in the field is not one red. It is seven dye lots, each pulled at a slightly different hour from the same copper vat,the variation lives only in the wool, never in the recipe.

Bring the room into the rug - never the other way around.

A rug is sized to read once, in full, as you walk past it. The longer sizes tell a different story across a whole room.

Asked & answered

Questions you'd want to ask.

Plain answers about the wool, the loom, and what the rug does over years of use.

Gyre · the asked & answered
Does the large sweeping arc read clearly when the rug is partially covered by furniture?

The arc moves across the upper portion of the field, so a sofa placed along the upper edge covers part of the arc while leaving the open blue-white interior and lower field fully visible. The 9x12 and 10x14 both allow the curve's trajectory to remain legible from a standing position within the room.

How does the rose-pink and straw-yellow palette work in a room with warm plaster walls and natural wood?

The straw-yellow and sandy lower field connect directly with warm plaster and natural wood tones, as the lifestyle image demonstrates. The rose-pink arc introduces a separate warm note that works with blush upholstery and terracotta without requiring an exact match. The pale blue interior provides the contrast that keeps the whole composition from reading as purely warm.

Is the varied pile finish consistent enough underfoot for barefoot use in a living room?

Yes. The varied finish means different zones sit at slightly different pile heights, but the transitions between them are gradual rather than abrupt, so the surface feels consistent underfoot. Wool and silk combined at medium pile height produces a surface that is firm and dense enough for comfortable barefoot use without sacrificing the surface variation that defines the design.
