Dense horizontal striations in charcoal, mid-grey, and off-white cover the entire field, built from broken cross-hatch marks that accumulate into a woven visual texture. Two horizontal bands of terracotta-coral interrupt the grey field at distinct levels, running nearly edge to edge. A teal-green passage sits in the upper third, narrower than the coral bands and more dissolved at its edges.
PLATE II — OF VII▸ WeftThe red you see in the field is not one red. It is seven dye lots, each pulled at a slightly different hour from the same copper vat,the variation lives only in the wool, never in the recipe.
