Description

Small oval dots fall in vertical curtains from the upper field, thinning as they descend into a bare pale silver-grey ground. The dots carry a mix of cool slate-blue, warm taupe, and dark khaki, clustered densely at the top and dispersing toward the lower half. One corner holds a concentrated ink-navy passage where the dot density compresses into a near-solid mass.

How does the low pile height affect the rug's durability in a regularly used living room?

Low pile sits closer to the foundation, which makes it more resistant to crushing and matting under furniture legs and foot traffic. Wool at this pile height wears evenly and does not show compression as visibly as a deeper pile. Rotating annually maintains consistency across the field.

Does the large open ground area in the lower half show footprints or marks more than a busier pattern would?

The silk content in the ground reflects at slightly different angles depending on foot direction, which means some directional sheen is visible in raking light. This is a property of the silk, not a mark or flaw. Regular low-suction vacuuming keeps the surface consistent.

What size works best to let the vertical dot pattern read clearly beneath a seating arrangement?

The 9x12 and 10x14 both give the vertical dot curtains enough height to read as a complete composition. Placing the sofa along the upper half of the rug positions the densest part of the pattern at the back of the seating group, with the open ground extending toward the room.
