Description

A slate-blue field carries an open scatter of trees, cypress forms, bare branches, and small animals, each drawn in a different hand. Terracotta red, saffron yellow, ivory, and dark navy mark the individual forms across the surface. No border interrupts the composition. The pile runs medium-low, soft and open to the touch.

A note on the dye

Madder root, soaked five days, simmered three.

The red you see in the field is not one red. It is seven dye lots, each pulled at a slightly different hour from the same copper vat,the variation lives only in the wool, never in the recipe.

On scale

Bring the room into the rug - never the other way around.

A rug is sized to read once, in full, as you walk past it. The longer sizes tell a different story across a whole room.

Asked & answered

Questions you'd want to ask.

Plain answers about the wool, the loom, and what the rug does over years of use.

Treescatter · the asked & answered
How does a pictorial, open-field design like this hold up structurally over time?

The hand-knotted construction distributes tension evenly across the entire field regardless of motif placement. Open-field designs with scattered figures wear as evenly as geometric repeats, since the knot density remains consistent throughout the surface.

What room size and furniture placement suits this rug best?

The borderless, open composition works particularly well in larger rooms where the full field remains visible. In a 9x12 or 10x14, keep furniture placement light at the edges so the scattered tree motifs read across the whole surface rather than disappearing beneath seating.

Does a medium-low wool pile require different care than a higher pile?

Medium-low pile wool requires less frequent vacuuming than higher pile constructions, as it traps less debris between knots. Low-suction vacuuming once a week suits active spaces. Blot spills immediately; the lower pile height means liquid reaches the foundation faster than in denser pile constructions.
