Description

Midnight navy grounds a repeating grid of octagonal medallions, each carrying amber gold, terracotta, and dusty apricot florals on ivory or copper interiors. The field holds no central focal point. The pattern distributes evenly across the surface, with dark crimson vines connecting each form. Pile sits medium, compact and closely knotted throughout.

A note on the dye

Madder root, soaked five days, simmered three.

The red you see in the field is not one red. It is seven dye lots, each pulled at a slightly different hour from the same copper vat,the variation lives only in the wool, never in the recipe.

Asked & answered

Questions you'd want to ask.

Plain answers about the wool, the loom, and what the rug does over years of use.

Octafield · the asked & answered
How does an all-over repeat pattern like this wear compared to a medallion design?

All-over repeat constructions distribute foot traffic across the full surface rather than concentrating wear at a central point. This makes them particularly well-suited to high-use areas, as no single zone of the pile takes disproportionate compression over time.

What furniture arrangement works best with this pattern on a 9x12 or 10x14?

Because the pattern carries equal visual weight across the full field, placing furniture asymmetrically still works well. All primary seating legs should sit on the rug. The grid structure reads clearly even when partially covered by a coffee table or sectional.

Will the navy ground show dust or pet hair more than lighter rugs?

Deep-ground wool rugs do show lighter debris more readily than mid-tone grounds. Regular low-suction vacuuming, once or twice a week in active spaces, manages this effectively. Rotating the rug every 12 months also ensures even surface aging across the field.
