Description

A cool silver-grey field carries a dense medallion-and-corner composition in steel blue, burnt sienna, dark chocolate, and amber gold. The border runs deep navy with scrolling vines in terracotta. Motifs read sharply at every scale. The wool pile sits at medium height, firm and close-packed across the surface.

A note on the dye

Madder root, soaked five days, simmered three.

The red you see in the field is not one red. It is seven dye lots, each pulled at a slightly different hour from the same copper vat,the variation lives only in the wool, never in the recipe.

On scale

Bring the room into the rug - never the other way around.

A rug is sized to read once, in full, as you walk past it. The longer sizes tell a different story across a whole room.

Asked & answered

Questions you'd want to ask.

Plain answers about the wool, the loom, and what the rug does over years of use.

Silvermedallion · the asked & answered
ow does a hand-knotted wool rug hold up in a frequently used living room?

Hand-knotted wool compresses and recovers well under regular foot traffic. The fiber's natural lanolin resists dry soil. A medium-pile wool rug of this construction typically strengthens in structure over years of use rather than degrading.

What furniture placement works best with larger sizes like 9x12 or 10x14?

In a living room, place all primary seating legs on the rug to anchor the arrangement. For dining rooms, allow at least 24 inches beyond the table edge on all sides so chairs remain on the rug when pulled out.

Does this wool rug shed, and how should that be managed?

New hand-knotted wool rugs shed loose fibers during the first few months of use. Vacuum on low suction without a beater bar. Shedding reduces significantly after the initial break-in period and stops almost entirely within six months.
