Description

A pale silver-sage ground carries oversized arabesque scrolls and vase-form motifs in teal, warm gold, terracotta salmon, and near-black brown. Two rows of small dark star flowers cross the field horizontally, distinct from the large curvilinear forms around them. A narrow ivory border with a small floral repeat closes the design at a quiet register.

The oversized motifs sit very close together across the field. Does that density affect how the wool pile performs underfoot over time?

Motif density does not affect pile performance; the wool fiber and knot structure behave consistently regardless of what the design depicts. The pile compresses and recovers evenly across the full surface. Rotating every 12 months keeps wear distributed rather than concentrated in foot traffic paths.

The pale silver-sage ground is unusual. How does it hold up visually in a drawing room or living room with regular use?

Light grounds in hand-knotted wool develop a gentle surface patina with use, which tends to soften rather than degrade their appearance. Regular low-suction vacuuming removes dry debris.
