Description

Warm parchment-beige holds the ground, divided by thin pale lines into loosely defined rectangular sections. A large rounded form in cool silver-grey occupies the centre-left of the field, its curved edge dissolving into the beige ground without a hard boundary. The hi-low construction places the silk in the grey form at a raised plane, giving it a dense, eroded texture clearly distinct from the flatter wool ground around it.

How does the large raised silk form maintain its edge definition against the wool ground over time?

The boundary between the grey silk form and the parchment wool ground is built into the knot sequence, not applied to the surface. The dissolved edge is intentional and holds its character under normal use. The raised silk interior of the form stays defined because the pile height differential is structural; it does not require surface treatment to maintain.

What size and room placement best suits this single-form composition?

The 10x14 gives the rounded form enough floor space to be read fully from across the room, as shown in the loft context. The composition is asymmetric, with the form sitting left of centre; positioning the rug so the primary sofa faces the form rather than covering it keeps the design readable.
