Description

Warm off-white grounds a fine all-over floral and vine field where steel blue, warm sand, and soft grey-green motifs distribute continuously across the surface. A centered hexagonal medallion in khaki and blue anchors the field without dominating it. The grey-blue border carries a secondary geometric scroll repeat that closes the composition with a cooler, more structured register than the interior.

A note on the dye

Madder root, soaked five days, simmered three.

The red you see in the field is not one red. It is seven dye lots, each pulled at a slightly different hour from the same copper vat,the variation lives only in the wool, never in the recipe.

Asked & answered

Questions you'd want to ask.

Plain answers about the wool, the loom, and what the rug does over years of use.

Ivoryfield · the asked & answered
How practical is an off-white wool rug in a living room with regular daily use?

Wool naturally resists soiling due to its lanolin content, which causes liquid to bead before absorbing. Blotting spills immediately prevents staining. Vacuuming weekly on low suction keeps the pale surface clear. Annual professional cleaning maintains the ground tone over time. The rug handles regular use well with consistent maintenance.

Does this rug work on a polished concrete or terrazzo floor without a rug pad?

A rug pad is recommended on any smooth hard floor surface. It prevents shifting under foot traffic and furniture, protects the pile from abrasion against the floor, and adds stability to the rug's movement. A thin, non-slip pad suited to hard floors works best without adding unwanted height.

Will the steel blue motifs fade or shift color over time with natural light exposure?

Wool holds dye well, but sustained direct sunlight causes gradual color shift in any fiber. The steel blue tones are most susceptible to slow fading under prolonged UV exposure. Rotating the rug every 12 months distributes any exposure evenly. Sheer window treatments help reduce direct sun contact on the surface.
