Description

Charcoal and ink-blue carry a dense herati-style field packed with floral rosettes, ivory octagons, and terracotta accents across every register of the surface. An octagonal medallion sits at center, ringed by ivory cartouche work. The close-up pile reveals a fine, tightly knotted structure where three distinct color temperatures — cool blue-grey, warm brick red, and raw sand — hold their positions without blending.

A note on the dye

Madder root, soaked five days, simmered three.

The red you see in the field is not one red. It is seven dye lots, each pulled at a slightly different hour from the same copper vat,the variation lives only in the wool, never in the recipe.

Bring the room into the rug - never the other way around.

Asked & answered

Questions you'd want to ask.

Plain answers about the wool, the loom, and what the rug does over years of use.

Cleft · the asked & answered
Can a densely patterned dark-ground rug work in a room with concrete or stone floors?

Yes. The contrast between the charcoal-blue field and raw architectural surfaces creates a clear visual boundary that anchors the seating area. The ivory and terracotta in the pattern connect naturally to warmer material tones in leather, wood, or aged metal without requiring a matched palette.

What furniture scale suits a rug with this level of pattern density?

Substantial furniture works best. Low-profile or visually heavy pieces like leather sofas, solid wood tables, and concrete or stone coffee tables hold their own against the pattern without being overwhelmed. Lighter or finer furniture can get lost against a surface this active.

Does a wool rug with medium pile hold up well under a dining table with regular chair movement?

Wool pile at medium height recovers well from the compression and friction of chair movement. Placing felt pads under chair legs reduces localized wear on the pile. Rotating the rug every 12 months ensures even distribution of wear across the full surface.
