Description

Steel blue-grey grounds a centered medallion composition where ivory organizes the field with geometric precision. Corner brackets in matching ivory pull the structure toward the borders, which carry their own dense scrollwork in navy and warm sand. The close-up surface reads as fine and tightly knotted, motifs sharp and controlled throughout.

A note on the dye

Madder root, soaked five days, simmered three.

The red you see in the field is not one red. It is seven dye lots, each pulled at a slightly different hour from the same copper vat,the variation lives only in the wool, never in the recipe.

Asked & answered

Questions you'd want to ask.

Plain answers about the wool, the loom, and what the rug does over years of use.

Cope · the asked & answered
Will the grey-blue field hold its color in a room with significant natural light exposure?

Wool dyed in cool grey-blue tones is generally stable under natural light, but prolonged direct sun exposure can cause gradual fading over years. Rotating the rug every 12 months ensures any tonal shift happens evenly across the surface rather than in one exposed area.

How should this rug be sized relative to a centered dining table?

Allow at least 24 inches of rug beyond each side of the dining table so chairs remain on the surface when pulled out. For a standard six-seat table, a 9x12 is the practical minimum; a 10x14 gives more clearance and suits larger dining rooms with generous proportions.

Does hand-knotted wool with a medium-low pile require any special break-in period?

No break-in is required, but some initial shedding of loose fibers is normal in the first few months. Vacuum on low suction without a beater bar during this period. The pile settles quickly and the surface reads as complete and stable within regular use.
