Description

A warm camel-gold field carries an all-over repeat of large interlocking arabesque scrolls forming oval cartouche cells in deep steel blue, near-black, and ivory, with small floral and animal forms visible inside each cell. White cross-arm connectors lock the structure at each intersection. The deep crimson border runs a dense rosette repeat in pale blue and sage. Medium pile reads close and firmly resolved across the full surface.

A note on the dye

Madder root, soaked five days, simmered three.

The red you see in the field is not one red. It is seven dye lots, each pulled at a slightly different hour from the same copper vat,the variation lives only in the wool, never in the recipe.

Asked & answered

Questions you'd want to ask.

Plain answers about the wool, the loom, and what the rug does over years of use.

Rondel --check · the asked & answered
How does the camel-gold ground differ in practical terms from the ivory version of the same design?

The camel-gold ground reads warmer and holds surface dust less visibly than ivory, making it a more forgiving choice for daily use. It also shifts the design's overall tone toward the warmer end of the color range, so the steel blue scrolls read as contrast against warmth rather than contrast against neutrality.

Does the density of the arabesque structure suit a room where the walls and furniture are already patterned?

Dense all-over designs work best against plain walls and unpatterned upholstery, where the rug carries the visual complexity without competing with other surfaces. The room context shows this well: plain curved furniture and white walls allow the full arabesque structure to read without interruption.

What size anchors a single curved sofa with a central coffee table most effectively?

A 9x12 positions the sofa's front legs on the rug with the coffee table fully on the surface, which is the most stable and visually cohesive arrangement. The 10x14 works if the room has enough floor clearance around the rug to let the crimson border read as a full frame rather than running under furniture.
