Description

A warm olive-brown field carries an all-over lattice of diagonal diamond cells holding distinct geometric and botanical forms: spiky rosettes, stepped medallion tiles, hooked animal figures, and angular flower heads in terracotta, steel blue, ivory, sage green, deep crimson, and near-black. The terracotta border runs a bold running wave and floral repeat in ivory and teal. The close-up reveals medium pile with sharp angular edges and strong individual motif definition.

A note on the dye

Madder root, soaked five days, simmered three.

The red you see in the field is not one red. It is seven dye lots, each pulled at a slightly different hour from the same copper vat,the variation lives only in the wool, never in the recipe.

On scale

Bring the room into the rug - never the other way around.

A rug is sized to read once, in full, as you walk past it. The longer sizes tell a different story across a whole room.

Questions you'd want to ask.

Plain answers about the wool, the loom, and what the rug does over years of use.

Murram · the asked & answered
How does the olive-brown ground perform in terms of showing day-to-day dust and surface debris?

Mid-tone earthy grounds like olive-brown are among the most practical for daily use. They do not show fine dust as readily as pale grounds, nor do they make pet hair or lint as visible as dark grounds. Regular low-suction vacuuming twice a week keeps the surface clear without intensive maintenance.

Does a lattice all-over design like this suit a room where no single focal point is desired?

A lattice all-over design distributes visual interest evenly across the full surface, so the eye does not settle on a medallion or single focal point. This suits rooms where the furniture arrangement is the focal structure and the floor provides sustained pattern beneath it rather than competing with it.

What size works best in a room with a low platform sofa and flanking lounge chairs on a pale concrete floor?

A 9x12 or 10x14 anchors a low-profile seating group effectively, with all front legs on the rug. The olive ground reads well against pale concrete, as the room context shows, providing tonal separation between rug and floor without requiring the border to do all the visual work.
