Description

Warm olive-gold fills the field, carrying scrolling vines, open palmettes, and curling leaf forms in deep crimson-red, dusty steel-blue, sage green, and warm tan. The border steps to a muted terracotta-rust ground, dense with matching rosettes and leafwork. A narrow ivory band separates the two zones. Pile reads medium-low, smooth and even.

A note on the dye

Madder root, soaked five days, simmered three.

The red you see in the field is not one red. It is seven dye lots, each pulled at a slightly different hour from the same copper vat,the variation lives only in the wool, never in the recipe.

Asked & answered

Questions you'd want to ask.

Plain answers about the wool, the loom, and what the rug does over years of use.

Felloe · the asked & answered
How does the olive-gold ground hold its color in a room that receives strong indirect natural light?

Wool dyes used in hand-knotted rugs remain stable under normal indoor conditions. Indirect light does not significantly alter color over time. Sustained direct sun exposure is the main risk with any rug, and rotating annually ensures any gradual tonal shift develops evenly across the surface rather than in a single concentrated area.

What furniture tones work well with this olive-gold and terracotta-rust palette?

Dark aged leather, warm walnut, and raw concrete all sit comfortably alongside the olive-gold field. The crimson-red accents pick up well with brick or deep terracotta surroundings. Avoid pairing with cool grey or white-dominant furniture groupings, which can create a temperature conflict that flattens the warmth the ground carries naturally.

Does a medium-low pile suit a drawing room with a mix of upholstered and hard-leg furniture?

Yes. Medium-low pile provides even support under both furniture types. Hard legs sit flat without rocking, and upholstered pieces compress the pile slightly without creating permanent indentations. Felt pads under hard furniture legs reduce localized wear at contact points and help the pile recover evenly over time.
