Description

Warm parchment ivory covers the field, carrying large circular palmettes and branching vines in terracotta-red, forest green, dusty steel-blue, and warm brown. The florals open fully, spaced at regular intervals across the ground. The border grounds the composition in deep ink-navy, carrying its own dense scrollwork of paisley and floral forms. Pile reads medium-low, firm and close.

A note on the dye

Madder root, soaked five days, simmered three.

The red you see in the field is not one red. It is seven dye lots, each pulled at a slightly different hour from the same copper vat,the variation lives only in the wool, never in the recipe.

Asked & answered

Questions you'd want to ask.

Plain answers about the wool, the loom, and what the rug does over years of use.

Trevet · the asked & answered
How do large open florals on a pale ground hold their resolution over years of regular use?

Hand-knotted construction ties each knot individually, so the motif edges remain sharp as the rug ages rather than blurring the way tufted pile can. The medium-low pile keeps the surface close and even, which preserves detail definition. Regular vacuuming on low suction removes surface debris that can dull pattern clarity over time.

This rug has a pale ivory field and a dark navy border. How should I size it for a living room?

The strong border benefits from being fully visible on all sides, so choose a size that leaves at least 18 inches of floor between the border edge and the wall. The 9x12 works well in most living rooms with a standard sofa grouping. The 10x14 suits larger rooms where the seating group needs more floor to anchor it properly.

Does the medium-low pile make this rug suitable for a dining room with chairs that move frequently?

Yes. A medium-low pile handles chair movement well because the shorter fiber compresses and recovers more readily than a deeper pile. Hand-knotted construction means the pile is structurally secure at the base. Felt pads under chair legs reduce abrasion at contact points and extend even wear across the field.
