Description

An ivory field carries a large soft-sage medallion whose scrolling arabesque arms spread outward bearing dusty terracotta flower heads, small teal accents, and muted olive palmettes. Large paisley forms and subsidiary rosettes fill the field between medallion and border. The warm rust-brown border runs a dense botanical repeat in sage and dusty rose. The close-up reveals medium pile with fluid, softly resolved edges throughout.

A note on the dye

Madder root, soaked five days, simmered three.

The red you see in the field is not one red. It is seven dye lots, each pulled at a slightly different hour from the same copper vat,the variation lives only in the wool, never in the recipe.

Bring the room into the rug - never the other way around.

A rug is sized to read once, in full, as you walk past it. The longer sizes tell a different story across a whole room.

Asked & answered

Questions you'd want to ask.

Plain answers about the wool, the loom, and what the rug does over years of use.

Fescue · the asked & answered
Does the low-saturation color palette make this rug easier to place with existing furniture than more saturated designs?

Low-saturation palettes work well alongside a wide range of furnishing tones because they do not compete for visual priority. The ivory, sage, and terracotta notes in this rug read neutrally against pale upholstery and warm wood, and the overall tonal closeness of the palette means the rug integrates without requiring the room to adjust around it.

Can the available sizes accommodate an open-plan living and dining space with one large rug?

The 10x14 suits open-plan spaces where the rug needs to anchor a seating area within a larger room. For spaces where separate zones are preferred, the 9x12 defines a living room grouping clearly, while the 8x10 works for a more compact sitting arrangement within the same open plan.

How does the medium pile feel underfoot in a room used for regular daily activity?

Medium wool pile provides noticeable cushioning and recovers well from daily compression. In rooms with regular foot traffic, the hand-knotted construction prevents the pile from shifting or developing uneven wear patches, and the wool fiber maintains its resilience through daily use without requiring special maintenance beyond regular vacuuming.
