How does a near-black field with a matching border hold up visually over years of use?

Deep-dyed wool maintains its color through the full pile depth, so gradual surface wear does not expose lighter fiber beneath. The hand-knotted construction keeps the surface stable, and the near-black tone reads consistently whether the rug is new or has been in use for years.

Does the density of the all-over pattern make sizing more or less critical than with a medallion design?

All-over designs are more forgiving of sizing because the repeat reads at any scale and from any sightline. The 9x12 works well in a living room with two sofas flanking the surface.
