Description

A deep charcoal-navy field carries an all-over vine scroll bearing large open rosettes and scrolling palmettes in warm gold, sage green, dusty rose, and terracotta. No medallion anchors the center; the field fills evenly from edge to border. The brick-red border holds a secondary botanical repeat in ivory and sage. The close-up reveals medium pile with rounded, softly resolved motif edges.

A note on the dye

Madder root, soaked five days, simmered three.

The red you see in the field is not one red. It is seven dye lots, each pulled at a slightly different hour from the same copper vat,the variation lives only in the wool, never in the recipe.

Bring the room into the rug - never the other way around.

A rug is sized to read once, in full, as you walk past it. The longer sizes tell a different story across a whole room.

Asked & answered

Questions you'd want to ask.

Plain answers about the wool, the loom, and what the rug does over years of use.

Floret · the asked & answered
How does an all-over field design without a central medallion wear differently from medallion-format rugs over time?

All-over field designs distribute foot traffic across the full surface rather than concentrating it around a focal point. This means wear develops more evenly, and no single area of the rug receives disproportionate use. Rotating the rug annually maintains this balance across all zones.

What size works best for a living room seating group, and does the all-over pattern change how sizing should be approached?

With an all-over design, sizing follows the same principle as any large rug: the 9x12 anchors a full sofa group with front legs on the surface, while the 10x14 suits a larger room where more of the repeat is visible from the main seating position. The pattern reads at any size.

Will the dark navy ground show lint or pet hair more readily than lighter grounds?

Deep grounds collect visible surface debris more readily than mid-tones. Regular low-suction vacuuming two to three times per week keeps the surface clear. A lint roller handles fine debris between vacuuming sessions without disturbing the pile.
