Description

A powder-blue ground holds a large stepped medallion at center, its layered star form built from brick red, deep navy, and warm amber-copper in concentric angular rings. Four amber-copper corner quadrants fill the field around the medallion with geometric motifs and directional leaf forms. A medium blue border closes the perimeter with dense scrolling vine work.

A note on the dye

Madder root, soaked five days, simmered three.

The red you see in the field is not one red. It is seven dye lots, each pulled at a slightly different hour from the same copper vat,the variation lives only in the wool, never in the recipe.

How does a central medallion design work in a room where furniture placement is not centered?
