Description

A deep navy ground carries the all-over geometric lattice in burnt orange outlines, its interlocking compartments filled with florets in sage green, teal blue, amber gold, and dusty coral. The high contrast between the dark field and warm-toned outlines sharpens every line. A deep rust-red border closes the field with formal scrolling vine work.

A note on the dye

Madder root, soaked five days, simmered three.

The red you see in the field is not one red. It is seven dye lots, each pulled at a slightly different hour from the same copper vat,the variation lives only in the wool, never in the recipe.

Asked & answered

Questions you'd want to ask.

Plain answers about the wool, the loom, and what the rug does over years of use.

Cobalt · the asked & answered
Does a dark navy ground show lint or pet hair more visibly than a lighter rug?

Dark grounds pick up light-colored debris more visibly than mid-toned rugs. Regular vacuuming on low suction manages this effectively. A lint roller or soft brush works well between vacuum sessions for pet hair. Rotating the rug annually also distributes surface exposure evenly.

What room sizes and furniture arrangements suit this rug best?

A 9x12 or 10x14 anchors a full living room seating arrangement with all front legs on the rug. The strong field contrast reads well in larger rooms where the pattern has space to distribute. In a drawing room, an 8x10 defines a seating area without overpowering the space.

Will the navy wool hold its color over years of use and vacuuming?

Deep-dyed wool retains color well when vacuumed correctly on low suction without a beater bar. Prolonged direct sun exposure causes gradual fading in any dyed wool. Rotating the rug every twelve months prevents uneven color change from directional light.
