Description

A dark charcoal and near-black ground carries an all-over repeat of right-angled off-white lines forming open, incomplete rectangular circuits across the full field. The lines start, turn at corners, and stop without closing, leaving the field open between them. The blended fibre ground shifts between dark grey values across the surface, so the charcoal reads as varied rather than flat, and the off-white channels sit cleanly against it throughout.

A note on the dye

Madder root, soaked five days, simmered three.

The red you see in the field is not one red. It is seven dye lots, each pulled at a slightly different hour from the same copper vat,the variation lives only in the wool, never in the recipe.

On scale

Bring the room into the rug - never the other way around.

A rug is sized to read once, in full, as you walk past it. The longer sizes tell a different story across a whole room.

Questions you'd want to ask.

Plain answers about the wool, the loom, and what the rug does over years of use.

Inkbound · the asked & answered
How does the off-white line pattern hold up in a high-traffic living room over time?

The off-white lines sit within a medium-height blended fibre pile and handle regular foot traffic reliably. The dark ground is forgiving of minor wear; slight compression reads less visibly against a deep tone. Vacuuming on low suction in the pile direction keeps the line channels open and defined. Rotating the rug every twelve months prevents concentrated wear from softening specific zones of the repeat.

Does the all-over geometric repeat work in a very large open-plan space, or does it need a contained room to read well?

The pattern scales well in large spaces. Because the repeat has no dominant focal point and no directional bias, it reads consistently whether seen from across a generous open-plan floor or from directly above in a contained room. The 10x14 suits large living spaces with a full seating arrangement; the design holds its logic at that scale without the open circuits reading as too small or too large.

What kind of spill care is needed for a blended fibre rug with a dark ground?

Blot spills immediately with a clean, dry cloth; do not rub, as this pushes liquid deeper into the pile. For the dark ground, pale liquids like milk or white wine can leave a visible residue once dry; blotting quickly prevents this. Avoid saturating the area with water. Professional dry cleaning once a year handles deeper cleaning without stressing the fibre blend or disturbing the ground colour.
