Description

Warm camel-gold wool carries a field of interlocking botanical and geometric forms drawn in cream-white, with a secondary warm brown tracing the same motifs at reduced intensity. The border runs on all four sides in a repeating stepped and scrolling unit. Close-up, the knotting reads dense and even, the motif outlines sharp against the tonal ground.

A note on the dye

Madder root, soaked five days, simmered three.

The red you see in the field is not one red. It is seven dye lots, each pulled at a slightly different hour from the same copper vat,the variation lives only in the wool, never in the recipe.

Asked & answered

Questions you'd want to ask.

Plain answers about the wool, the loom, and what the rug does over years of use.

Bract · the asked & answered
Does the all-wool construction hold the camel and cream tonal distinction well over years of use?

Hand-knotted wool holds dye at the fiber level, so tonal distinction between the camel ground and cream motifs remains stable with regular care. Periodic rotation and professional cleaning every 12 months prevent uneven dulling that could flatten the contrast between the two tones.

How does this rug work in a living room with dark timber floors, and what size suits best?

The camel-gold ground reads warmly against dark timber, reinforcing rather than interrupting the material tone of the floor. The 9x12 size suits a sofa and lounge chair arrangement with front legs on the rug; the 10x14 suits a fuller seating group where all furniture sits fully on the surface.

Is some fiber shedding normal in the first months of use?

Yes. All-wool hand-knotted rugs release loose surface fibers during the first three to six months. Vacuum on low suction without a beater bar once or twice a week during this period. Shedding reduces significantly after the initial break-in phase and does not affect the structural integrity of the rug.
