Description

Steel-blue, slate-purple, warm terracotta-rust, and sandy beige move through each other across the full field, none holding a fixed boundary. The pale ice-blue ground surfaces intermittently between the colour masses, providing a base without dominating. The colour interaction is dense in the upper half and slightly more open toward the lower field, where beige intervals widen.

A note on the dye

Madder root, soaked five days, simmered three.

The red you see in the field is not one red. It is seven dye lots, each pulled at a slightly different hour from the same copper vat,the variation lives only in the wool, never in the recipe.

Bring the room into the rug - never the other way around.

A rug is sized to read once, in full, as you walk past it. The longer sizes tell a different story across a whole room.

Asked & answered

Questions you'd want to ask.

Plain answers about the wool, the loom, and what the rug does over years of use.

Torrent · the asked & answered
With five distinct colours in the field, does the rug show soiling or staining more visibly in some colour zones than others?

Darker zones such as the steel-blue and slate-purple areas are more forgiving of minor soiling than the pale beige and ice-blue passages, which show marks more readily. Blotting spills immediately and keeping foot traffic away from the lighter passages reduces visible soiling. Annual professional cleaning maintains the balance across all colour zones.

How does the terracotta-rust colour in the field work with a room that has warm plaster walls and linen upholstery?

The terracotta-rust connects directly with warm plaster and natural linen tones, grounding the rug in the room's material register. The steel-blue and slate-purple counterbalance it, preventing the rug from reading as purely warm. The 10x14 suits a large open-plan room with plaster walls where the full colour range needs room to register.

Is the pile height consistent across the different colour zones, or do the wool and silk areas vary in height?

In a varied finish construction, pile height can differ slightly between wool-dominant and silk-enriched zones by design. This variation is intentional and creates the surface movement visible in the close-up images. Regular low-suction vacuuming maintains both zones without flattening the distinction between them.
