Description

A field of tightly packed, square-cut knots renders a classical medallion and interlocking circle layout in cool off-white against a mid-tone blue-grey ground. The meander border runs on all four sides, its Greek key turns sharp and even. Close-up, each knot reads as an individual unit; from standing height, the mosaic logic of the whole composition clicks into place.

Madder root, soaked five days, simmered three.

The red you see in the field is not one red. It is seven dye lots, each pulled at a slightly different hour from the same copper vat,the variation lives only in the wool, never in the recipe.

Does the low pile height affect durability in a busy living room?

Low-pile hand-knotted construction is among the most durable rug formats available. The knots sit close to the foundation, reducing fiber stress under foot traffic. Wool carries the structural load well, and the tight knotting that produces the mosaic resolution also contributes to long-term pile stability.

What room size and furniture placement works best with this rug?

The formal, symmetrical layout suits rooms where furniture arranges around a clear center. A sofa and two chairs with front legs on the rug work well at 9x12 or larger. The meander border reads best when at least 12 to 18 inches of the rug edge remain visible beyond the furniture perimeter.

Will the charcoal-grey ground show lint or pale fiber easily?
