Description

Bone white and warm sand shift across the field without edge or boundary, broken by slow-moving pools of slate charcoal and ash grey. The silk pile catches where the charcoal gathers, pulling those zones into quiet contrast against the flatter wool ground. No border contains the field. The surface reads like weathered stone seen from above.

A note on the dye

Madder root, soaked five days, simmered three.

The red you see in the field is not one red. It is seven dye lots, each pulled at a slightly different hour from the same copper vat,the variation lives only in the wool, never in the recipe.

Asked & answered

Questions you'd want to ask.

Plain answers about the wool, the loom, and what the rug does over years of use.

Stonewash · the asked & answered
How does the wool and silk combination perform under regular household use?

Wool forms the structural base and handles foot traffic well over time. The real silk, which sits at the higher pile plane, is more sensitive to abrasion. This rug performs best in living and dining areas with moderate use. Avoid placement in high-traffic corridors.

What size works for a living room with a large sectional or multiple seating pieces?

The 10x14 accommodates most large sectional arrangements, with all furniture legs sitting on the rug. The 9x12 suits standard three-seat sofa setups with front legs on the field. For dining, extend at least 24 inches beyond the table on each side.

Does this rug shed, and how should the silk surface be maintained?

Wool may shed lightly in the first few weeks of use. Real silk does not shed but is sensitive to moisture and friction. Vacuum on low suction without a beater bar. Rotate every 12 months. For any spill on the silk zones, blot immediately with a dry cloth only.
