Description

Pale peach, more rose-sand than orange, grounds a large-scale floral field where scrolling vines and open botanical forms move symmetrically across the surface. Warm taupe-brown renders the largest motifs, with powder blue and soft grey appearing in secondary forms and the border fill. The distressed finish pulls the design back from sharpness throughout, giving the surface a washed, settled character.

A note on the dye

Madder root, soaked five days, simmered three.

The red you see in the field is not one red. It is seven dye lots, each pulled at a slightly different hour from the same copper vat,the variation lives only in the wool, never in the recipe.

Asked & answered

Questions you'd want to ask.

Plain answers about the wool, the loom, and what the rug does over years of use.

Silt · the asked & answered
Does the wool and silk blend require different care than a pure wool rug?

Silk fibres are more sensitive to moisture and abrasion than wool. Blotting spills immediately without rubbing is especially important. Professional cleaning using silk-safe methods is recommended annually; avoid steam cleaning or wet-washing at home.

What size works best for a living room with a curved sofa and occasional chairs?

For a curved sofa arrangement, a size of 9x12 or 10x14 allows the sofa's front legs and the chair legs to sit on the rug while keeping the border visible on all sides. This grounds the seating group without the rug disappearing beneath the furniture.

Will the pale peach ground show staining more readily than a darker ground?

Pale grounds show spills more visibly than mid or dark tones, which makes prompt blotting more important. The wool-silk construction does not absorb liquid instantly, giving you a short window to blot before a spill sets. Annual professional cleaning maintains the ground tone over time.
