Description

Steel blue and deep navy marks scatter across a pale silver-grey ribbed ground, the marks ranging from dense clustered patches to single horizontal dashes that trail and thin across the field. Fine horizontal ribbing runs the full width throughout, giving the surface a corded, textile quality. The bamboo silk in the blend introduces a cool sheen where the blue marks sit against the grey wool ground.

A note on the dye

Madder root, soaked five days, simmered three.

The red you see in the field is not one red. It is seven dye lots, each pulled at a slightly different hour from the same copper vat,the variation lives only in the wool, never in the recipe.

Asked & answered

Questions you'd want to ask.

Plain answers about the wool, the loom, and what the rug does over years of use.

Shore · the asked & answered
How does the irregular placement of blue marks hold up visually as the rug wears over time?

The blue marks are knotted into the wool foundation at full pile depth, so their placement and colour remain stable as the surface compresses with regular use. The ribbed ground structure also holds its character well under foot traffic. Rotating the rug every 12 months prevents any single cluster zone from receiving disproportionate wear.

What size and room placement works best for this rug's irregular surface composition?

An 8x10 suits a single chair and side table arrangement where the full field reads as a floor plane. For a living room with a sofa and accent chair, a 9x12 brings both pieces onto the surface and allows the scattered blue marks to distribute across the visible field without being covered entirely by furniture.

How should spills be handled on this wool and bamboo silk surface?

Blot any liquid immediately with a clean dry cloth, working from the outer edge of the spill inward. Do not rub or apply pressure in a circular motion, as this can push the liquid deeper into the bamboo silk fibres and cause staining. Allow the area to air dry fully before placing furniture back. Annual professional cleaning is recommended for this blend.
