The design works with the line cluster on either the left or right side of the field; both placements read naturally. What matters more is the relationship between the cluster and the room's primary seating. Positioning the clustered lines beneath the sofa and the open field extending toward the room's open floor gives the composition its most considered reading. Rotating 180 degrees is fine; rotating 90 degrees changes the design from a vertical to a horizontal composition, which reads differently and suits some rooms well.

A pale high-pile rug on a light concrete floor relies on the rug's texture and edge definition to read clearly. The dense high pile creates a tactile and visual boundary against the flat concrete surface. The near-black line cluster on the left side gives the rug a strong anchor point that registers even when the right field blends softly into its surroundings. A rug pad with a contrasting edge further defines the boundary on pale floors.

The 10x14 gives the asymmetric composition its full reading in a large open-plan loft space. Position the rug with the line cluster running beneath the primary sofa module and the open field extending toward the room's centre. The generous right-side opening then reads as intentional negative space rather than an incomplete design. The 9x12 suits a more contained arrangement with the same placement logic.
