Description

Warm ivory grounds a large-scale broken diamond lattice drawn in amber gold, the lines rendered with deliberate interruption rather than continuous stroke. The gold sits at medium saturation, neither pale nor deep, and the ivory ground reads closer to natural fleece than white. The surface shows a fine horizontal rib throughout. No border. The pile reads medium and close at the folded corner.

A note on the dye

Madder root, soaked five days, simmered three.

The red you see in the field is not one red. It is seven dye lots, each pulled at a slightly different hour from the same copper vat,the variation lives only in the wool, never in the recipe.

Bring the room into the rug - never the other way around.

A rug is sized to read once, in full, as you walk past it. The longer sizes tell a different story across a whole room.

Asked & answered

Questions you'd want to ask.

Plain answers about the wool, the loom, and what the rug does over years of use.

Scribe · the asked & answered
Does the amber gold hold its tone over years of indoor use?

Wool accepts dye at the fibre level, and amber gold in this saturation range remains stable under normal indoor conditions. Avoiding prolonged direct sun exposure and rotating the rug annually for even wear are the main factors in maintaining consistent color across the field over time.

What size suits a sectional sofa arrangement in a large living room?

For an L-shaped sectional, a size of 10x14 or larger allows the sofa's inner corner and both arms to sit on the rug while the full lattice pattern remains visible in the open centre. Sizing up ensures the rug grounds the entire seating group rather than sitting only beneath part of it.

How does the ribbed wool surface respond to vacuuming and regular foot traffic?

The horizontal rib texture compresses slightly under foot traffic and recovers well with regular low-suction vacuuming. Vacuuming in the direction of the rib rather than against it preserves the surface character and prevents fibre disruption across the pile.
