Description

Charcoal-brown, cobalt-blue, and ivory-white sit interlocked across the full field in a broken, all-over texture with no motif and no repeat. A loose chevron-like structure runs diagonally through the surface, visible from a distance but dissolving into pure fiber-level color variation up close. No border. The perimeter reads slightly darker than the centre, the cobalt and charcoal concentrating at the edges. Made in India

A note on the dye

Madder root, soaked five days, simmered three.

The red you see in the field is not one red. It is seven dye lots, each pulled at a slightly different hour from the same copper vat,the variation lives only in the wool, never in the recipe.

The diagonal structure in this rug is subtle. Does it read clearly in a furnished room?

From a standing distance with furniture in place, the diagonal movement reads clearly as a surface quality rather than a pattern. It gives the field direction without imposing geometry. In a furnished room, the structure becomes more visible as the eye has more context to read it against.

This is a dark, multi-toned field. What room conditions suit it best?

Rooms with hard flooring in pale concrete, polished stone, or light oak create a strong base contrast that lets the dark field read with full weight. High ceilings and generous natural light prevent the surface from closing in. Furniture in grey, warm brown, or natural linen works with the existing color range in the pile without adding new variables.

How does an all-wool low pile surface with this level of color complexity wear over time?

The three-color interlocking construction means wear and minor fading distribute evenly across the surface rather than concentrating in any one tone. Low pile holds its profile under daily use.
