Description

Horizontal striations run the full width of a deep rust-red field, carrying small chevron marks in off-white and slate grey that surface and dissolve without forming a repeat. The ground shifts between burnt sienna and dark brick-red across the length. Up close, flecks of cool grey and near-black push through the warm pile, giving the surface a raw, fired quality. A note on the dye

Madder root, soaked five days, simmered three.

The red you see in the field is not one red. It is seven dye lots, each pulled at a slightly different hour from the same copper vat,the variation lives only in the wool, never in the recipe.

Bring the room into the rug - never the other way around.

A rug is sized to read once, in full, as you walk past it. The longer sizes tell a different story across a whole room.

Asked & answered

Questions you'd want to ask.

Plain answers about the wool, the loom, and what the rug does over years of use.

Scorch · the asked & answered
How does a saturated wool rug in a warm tone hold its colour under heavy furniture and foot traffic?

Wool takes dye at the fibre level, so colour sits deep within each strand rather than on the surface. Hand-knotted construction distributes load across individual knots, preventing the crushing that fades surface-dyed rugs. Rotating every 12 months keeps wear even.

What size works for a large sectional seating arrangement in an open-plan living room?

For a full sectional group, a 10x14 allows all furniture legs to sit within the field comfortably. A 9x12 works where the sectional partially overlaps the rug with the coffee table and accent chairs fully on the surface.

Does this wool rug shed, and how long does shedding last?

Some shedding occurs in the first few weeks as loose fibres from the knotting process work free. Vacuuming on low suction without a beater bar, two to three times a week initially, clears loose fibre quickly. Shedding reduces considerably after the first four to six weeks.
