Description

Ink-black lines build peaked rooftop forms, rectangular frames, and angular cross-structures across an ivory and warm sand ground. Rust-terracotta sits in isolated patches between the structural forms. The silk-raised ivory ground keeps the drawn architecture visible and precise, while ash-grey passages soften the transitions between the black lines and the open field.

Madder root, soaked five days, simmered three.

The red you see in the field is not one red. It is seven dye lots, each pulled at a slightly different hour from the same copper vat,the variation lives only in the wool, never in the recipe.

How does the wool and silk construction handle the demands of a high-use living room?

Wool at the lower pile plane forms a dense, resilient base that holds its structure well under consistent foot traffic. The real silk at the raised level is more delicate and performs best in moderate-use settings. Avoid placement in primary walkways. With annual rotation, the surface retains its definition over years.

The design is visually strong. What furniture style and room setting works best with it?

The black line work and ivory ground suit rooms with raw or industrial materials: concrete floors, dark leather upholstery, exposed brick, or blackened metal. The 9x12 fits a standard living room arrangement with front legs on the rug. The 10x14 suits larger open-plan spaces where the full design reads from a distance.

How should the ivory silk ground be maintained to keep it looking clean over time?

Vacuum regularly on low suction without a beater bar to lift surface dust from the pale silk ground. Rotate the rug every 12 months so foot traffic distributes evenly across the field. For any spill, blot immediately with a dry cloth. Do not apply water-based cleaners directly to the silk surface.
