Description

Dark slate lines form an open grid across a salt-and-pepper ground of mixed grey and off-white wool. The grid does not close into fixed cells. Lines interrupt, shift register, and resume, so the structure reads as suggested rather than imposed. Bamboo silk surfaces through the lighter passages, cooling the overall tone without adding sheen.

A note on the dye

Madder root, soaked five days, simmered three.

The red you see in the field is not one red. It is seven dye lots, each pulled at a slightly different hour from the same copper vat,the variation lives only in the wool, never in the recipe.

Does the wool and bamboo silk blend affect how durable this rug is underfoot?

Wool carries the structural load and handles foot traffic well over time. Bamboo silk sits closer to the surface and contributes softness rather than durability. In moderate-traffic rooms the blend performs well; high-traffic corridors are better suited to pure wool constructions.

What furniture arrangement works best with the 9x12 or 10x14 sizes?

The 9x12 fits a large sectional with front legs on the rug and a central coffee table fully within the field. The 10x14 suits rooms where all key furniture legs sit on the surface, anchoring the full seating group.

Does bamboo silk show footprints or pile direction changes over time?

Bamboo silk is more directional than wool and can show pile shift in high-use areas. Regular low-suction vacuuming in the direction of the pile keeps the surface reading evenly. Rotating the rug every 12 months also distributes any directional wear.
