Description

Steel-blue and teal-grey fill rectangular cells across the full field, each one internally lined with fine horizontal off-white striations running edge to edge. Off-white grid lines divide the cells at consistent intervals, creating a surface that reads as a filled ledger or ruled page at scale. The blended fibres carry the blue-grey ground in a range of teal, slate, and mid-blue values, so adjacent cells sit in slightly different tones despite sharing the same colour family.

A note on the dye

Madder root, soaked five days, simmered three.

The red you see in the field is not one red. It is seven dye lots, each pulled at a slightly different hour from the same copper vat,the variation lives only in the wool, never in the recipe.

Bring the room into the rug - never the other way around.

A rug is sized to read once, in full, as you walk past it. The longer sizes tell a different story across a whole room.

Asked & answered

Questions you'd want to ask.

Plain answers about the wool, the loom, and what the rug does over years of use.

Ruled · the asked & answered
How do the fine internal striations within each cell hold their definition over time?

The striations read through slight tonal difference within the blended fibre pile rather than through pile height variation, so they remain visible as long as the pile stays clean and upright. Regular low-suction vacuuming in the direction of the pile keeps the internal line structure legible. The medium-low pile height resists compression well under normal foot traffic.

Does the blue-grey palette work in a room with warm natural tones such as pale oak and linen?

The steel-blue and teal-grey cells sit in a cool register but carry enough grey to read as grounded rather than cold against warm natural materials. In the lifestyle setting, the rug sits on pale oak with a linen-toned sofa and raw plaster walls, demonstrating that the blue-grey ground participates naturally in a warm-neutral interior without creating tonal conflict.

What size works best under a modular or L-shaped sectional sofa?

The 10x14 suits an L-shaped sectional well, allowing the full grid to anchor both arms of the sofa with front legs resting on the rug. The 9x12 works for a smaller modular configuration in a standard living room. The non-directional grid pattern adapts to any sofa orientation without the design appearing misaligned or requiring a specific placement axis.
