Madder root, soaked five days, simmered three.

The red you see in the field is not one red. It is seven dye lots, each pulled at a slightly different hour from the same copper vat,the variation lives only in the wool, never in the recipe.

How well does a deep red wool rug hold its colour in a room with regular use?

Hand-knotted wool takes dye deeply into the fiber, so brick-red and navy tones at this saturation remain stable under regular foot traffic and low-suction vacuuming. Colour loss is minimal when the rug is kept from sustained direct sunlight and rotated annually.

What size works best for the living room setup shown, with a sofa and two accent chairs?

For a seating group of that scale, a 9x12 allows all front furniture legs to rest on the rug comfortably. A 10x14 suits a larger room where the rug needs to anchor the full conversation area rather than just the central table zone.

Does the dense pile in this rug require any special vacuuming technique?

Vacuum in the direction of the pile on low suction, without a beater bar. A medium-high pile this dense can flatten slightly if vacuumed against the grain repeatedly. Occasional gentle brushing by hand in the pile direction restores the surface between vacuum sessions.
