Description

Pale camel and warm greige form the ground, carrying fine drawn lines in dark espresso brown: arcs, horizontal bars, scattered dots, and loose botanical traces. Rust-sienna and muted burgundy gather in the upper field as washed passages. Silk lifts the pale ground above the wool base, giving the drawn marks their own sunken register against the raised surface.

Madder root, soaked five days, simmered three.

The red you see in the field is not one red. It is seven dye lots, each pulled at a slightly different hour from the same copper vat,the variation lives only in the wool, never in the recipe.

How does the hi-low wool and silk construction hold its definition over time?

The wool base is dense and resilient, maintaining its structure well under regular use. The silk at the raised pile level holds its sheen in moderate-traffic areas. The drawn line details, knotted at the lower wool plane, remain defined over years of use when the rug is rotated every 12 months and kept from sustained heavy traffic.

What room size and furniture style suits this rug best?

The 9x12 works well in living rooms with a sofa and two armchairs, front legs sitting on the field. The 10x14 suits larger arrangements. The camel and greige ground pairs naturally with dark wood furniture and leather upholstery, as seen in the room context.

Does this rug shed, and how should the pale silk ground be maintained?

Wool fibres may shed lightly in the first few weeks of use. This settles with regular vacuuming on low suction, without a beater bar attachment. The silk ground is sensitive to moisture.
