A warm taupe-brown ground carries a fine diamond lattice across its full surface, the off-white lattice lines dissolving and reforming as the field shifts between dark mushroom and pale sand through horizontal banding. No border interrupts the field. The transition moves top to bottom, darker at the upper register, opening into lighter parchment tones toward the lower edge. Made in India

Madder root, soaked five days, simmered three.

The red you see in the field is not one red. It is seven dye lots, each pulled at a slightly different hour from the same copper vat,the variation lives only in the wool, never in the recipe.

How does the tonal shift in this rug read once furniture is placed on it?

The banding runs the full length of the rug, so even with furniture covering sections of the surface, the transition between darker and lighter zones remains visible at the edges and in the open field around the coffee table. The shift reads as floor plane, not as pattern.

What room and size suits this rug's neutral, directional character?

This rug works well in rooms with a clear length axis. A 9x12 fits a standard living room with a sofa and two chairs sitting with front legs on the surface. For a longer drawing room or open-plan space, a 10x14 allows the full tonal shift to span the seating area without interruption.

Does fringing on a hand-knotted wool rug require special maintenance?

The fringe is a natural extension of the foundation warps, not sewn on separately. Vacuum around the fringe rather than over it to prevent tangling. If fringe becomes soiled, hand-wash gently with mild soap and cold water and allow to air dry flat. Do not machine wash.
