Description

Soft steel-blue holds the field in an all-over composition of small geometric florals, cross-rosettes, and star motifs in warm sand-ochre and pale ivory. A central octagonal medallion framed by a pointed arch device organises the field without clearing it. Three concentric borders carry floral meander, stepped geometric, and small rosette bands. Abrash runs through the blue ground in horizontal shifts between cooler and warmer tones.

The red you see in the field is not one red. It is seven dye lots, each pulled at a slightly different hour from the same copper vat,the variation lives only in the wool, never in the recipe.

The design operates at two distances. From a standing position or across the room, the field reads as a rich textured ground with the central medallion providing a focal point. Moving closer, individual motifs, cross-rosettes, diamond forms, and floral details resolve clearly at the medium pile height used in this construction. Both readings are intentional.

What size and placement suits a mixed-furniture living room with a large sectional?

The 10x14 suits a room where a large sectional and several additional chairs sit within the rug's perimeter, as shown in the room context. The all-over field composition reads fully only when the full surface is visible; furniture that covers the border reduces the design's frame. The 9x12 works where a single sofa and two chairs form the primary arrangement.
