Description

Bone-white and pale ash hold the ground while ink-black masses push up through the surface without warning or symmetry. Steel-blue pools between them, with small breaks of raw amber and blush appearing at the edges. Silk rises at the darker concentrations, catching against the matte wool ground. The composition sits off-center and makes no attempt at balance.

The red you see in the field is not one red. It is seven dye lots, each pulled at a slightly different hour from the same copper vat,the variation lives only in the wool, never in the recipe.

Does the hi-low construction affect how the rug wears over time in a living room setting?

The wool sections handle foot traffic well and resist flattening. Silk areas, which rise higher in this construction, are more sensitive to abrasion. Placing the rug where foot traffic falls primarily on the wool-dominant zones extends the surface quality of the silk considerably.

What furniture scale suits this rug, and which size works best for a standard living room?

The 9x12 fits most living rooms with a full seating group. Given the off-center composition, allow front legs of sofas and chairs to rest on the rug so the design reads fully beneath the furniture arrangement. The 10x14 works well in rooms with generous floor plans.
