Description

A warm sand-camel field carries an open all-over layout of rounded botanical forms in powder-blue, steel-grey, and burnt-orange-red. The motifs sit loosely across the ground, with visible horizontal abrash shifting the camel tone in uneven bands. The close-up confirms medium-low pile with a matte, slightly worn surface quality where silk catches quietly between the wool.

A note on the dye

Madder root, soaked five days, simmered three.

The red you see in the field is not one red. It is seven dye lots, each pulled at a slightly different hour from the same copper vat,the variation lives only in the wool, never in the recipe.

Asked & answered

Questions you'd want to ask.

Plain answers about the wool, the loom, and what the rug does over years of use.

Grain · the asked & answered
Does the contrast between the orange-red and blue-grey motifs make this rug difficult to place in a room?

Not in practice. Both color groups sit against a warm camel ground that absorbs the contrast. The muted, abrash-affected surface takes the edge off both tones. Rooms with natural stone, warm wood, or linen upholstery in beige or off-white tend to work well with this palette.

How does a medium-low pile hold up in a dining room with regular chair movement?

Medium-low pile handles chair leg movement better than higher piles, as there is less fiber to compress and mat. Wool recovers well between uses. A rug pad underneath reduces friction and protects both the rug back and the floor surface beneath.

The camel ground looks pale. How does it handle everyday spills and foot traffic?

Wool's natural lanolin content gives it some resistance to liquid absorption if spills are blotted immediately. For a pale ground, a no-shoes policy in the rug area and prompt attention to any spill makes a real difference. Annual professional cleaning keeps the tone consistent over time.
