Description

Muted teal-aqua covers both field and border in the same ground tone, removing the usual separation between zones. Vertical cypress-like forms and dense scatter florals in terracotta-red, warm sand, olive green, and deep charcoal populate the field in repeating columns. The border carries the same teal ground with a finer-scaled scrolling vine. Pile reads medium, full and even.

Madder root, soaked five days, simmered three.

The red you see in the field is not one red. It is seven dye lots, each pulled at a slightly different hour from the same copper vat,the variation lives only in the wool, never in the recipe.

Does the tone-on-tone teal ground make the pattern harder to read in a large room?

At room scale the columnar structure reads clearly because the vertical forms create strong rhythm across the field. The warm terracotta and sand accents lift specific motifs from the ground without the pattern needing high contrast to register. In larger rooms the 10x14 gives enough surface area for the full column repeat to be visible.
