Description

Amber-gold dots fall in dense vertical trails from the upper field, their warm ochre bodies catching against a steel-grey and pale silver ground. The dot curtains frame a large open centre that holds a wash of dark charcoal and cool mid-grey, cloudlike and without edge. The lower field mirrors the upper, gold trails rising from a dense dark-grey base.

Madder root, soaked five days, simmered three.

The red you see in the field is not one red. It is seven dye lots, each pulled at a slightly different hour from the same copper vat,the variation lives only in the wool, never in the recipe.

Does the silk in the gold dots make those areas more vulnerable to wear than the wool ground?

The gold dots sit within a wool-dominant pile structure, with silk woven into those specific knots rather than forming a separate layer. This keeps the silk protected within the pile body. Avoid beater bar vacuuming and use low suction to preserve the silk's surface integrity over time.

How does this rug work in a living room with warm wood tones and brass fixtures?

The amber-gold dots read closely with brass and warm wood, while the steel-grey and charcoal ground provides enough contrast to keep the rug from blending into the floor. The 9x12 anchors a standard seating group well; the 10x14 suits larger rooms where the full dot-to-open-field composition needs room to register.
