Description

Large vase-and-vine forms fill a silver-aqua ground, the motifs drawn in steel blue, cloud beige, and sage-green across an allover composition that carries no central medallion. Curving stems connect each form to the next, building a continuous floral field that the narrow outer border closes without interrupting. The pile sits close and even, the wool matte throughout. A note on the dye

Madder root, soaked five days, simmered three.

The red you see in the field is not one red. It is seven dye lots, each pulled at a slightly different hour from the same copper vat,the variation lives only in the wool, never in the recipe.

How does the allover floral pattern hold its definition in a busy living room over time?

Hand-knotted construction locks each motif into the foundation at the knot level, so pattern edges remain defined even as the pile compresses with regular use. The close, even pile height in this rug distributes wear consistently across the surface. Rotating every 12 months prevents any single zone from softening faster than the rest.

What size suits a living room with a sofa, armchair, and coffee table arrangement?

An 8x10 works well when the sofa and armchair front legs sit on the rug with the coffee table fully within the field. For a larger drawing room with a full seating group, a 9x12 or 10x14 allows all furniture to sit within the composition, letting the allover pattern read across its full span.

Does the silver-aqua ground show everyday dust and light soiling easily?

Mid-tone grounds like silver-aqua are more forgiving than pale ivory or deep navy. Light dust and everyday foot traffic do not show prominently. Vacuuming on low suction once or twice a week keeps the surface clear. For any liquid spills, blot immediately with a clean dry cloth and allow to air dry fully before replacing furniture.
