Description

Chevron forms scatter across a deep charcoal and off-white ground, broken repeatedly by narrow vertical lines in steel blue that divide the field into loose columns. The surface reads dark and dense from a distance. Up close, the silver-grey flecks push through the near-black, giving the pile a fractured, mineral quality. Made in India

A note on the dye

Madder root, soaked five days, simmered three.

The red you see in the field is not one red. It is seven dye lots, each pulled at a slightly different hour from the same copper vat,the variation lives only in the wool, never in the recipe.

Bring the room into the rug - never the other way around.

Asked & answered

Questions you'd want to ask.

Plain answers about the wool, the loom, and what the rug does over years of use.

Flint · the asked & answered
Will the wool pile hold its structure in a high-traffic living room?

Hand-knotted wool construction anchors each knot independently into the foundation, so the pile resists crushing and matting over time. Rotating the rug every 12 months distributes foot traffic evenly and extends the surface life.

Which room size suits this rug best, and how should furniture be placed on it?

An 8x10 works well with front sofa legs on the rug and coffee table fully within the field. For larger drawing rooms where a full seating group needs grounding, a 9x12 or 10x14 brings all furniture legs onto the surface.

Does the blue in this rug fade with regular vacuuming or exposure?

Wool takes dye at the fiber level during the spinning process, so color sits deep within the strand rather than on the surface. Regular vacuuming on low suction does not affect color. Prolonged direct sun exposure over years can cause gradual shift in any wool dye.
